Forum Rules & Guidelines
We are not a conservative\Republican discussion forum. We're a forum for liberals, progressives, moderates, independents, Libertarians & political newbies. This is not a forum for those who just want to attack liberals and/or promote a right-wing ideology. As far as enforcement of policy goes, we sometimes give warnings but when something is an obvious infraction (such as excessive posting of conservative misinformation or standing by something which is obviously fact checked to be false) we may outright ban an account and/or delete all your posts.
Rules for Discussing Liberals
We are more strict on our rules in discussing liberals\progressives\Democrats. We expect our members to be more positive when discussing specific people or groups and save your criticism for the far right.
Limit Criticism of Democratic Politicians in Good Standing
Why come on here to attack other Democrats? Go post on a right-wing website if that is what you want to do. Keep any criticism of Democratic politicians constructive, positive and stick to the facts. We expect members to spend a lot more time posting positive things about Democrats and negative things about Republicans than the other way around. And if you join the website and immediately start negative don't expect to be posting for very long.
Criticism of Democrats Must be Ground in Reality
We do not live in a perfect and idealistic political world. Be sure any criticism of Democratic politicians takes into account practical & realistic expectations.
No Ambiguous Attacks on Democrats
While we do not want to discourage constructive criticism, we do frown upon attacks on Democrats that appear just to attack someone without supporting a liberal position. Picture your individual post being made on a conservative forum instead -- if it would appear to be written by a conservative and expected to get a positive response from other conservatives, then it does not belong on here. Go post on a conservative forum instead.
We Support All Elected Democrats
If the Democratic party supports them, then we support them. That's what our website is about. We do not believe in "DINOs" here -- we believe in a big tent. We take a practical & realistic approach to politics and realize that a conservative leaning Democrat in a conservative state is far better than a Republican. We also believe that in politics not everyone agrees with everything and there is a lot of compromise;we believe this is a good thing. We hope when you post in our forums that you consider & think about this.
Be Supportive if Your Primary Candidate Loses
There can be a lot of contention amongst liberals on their candidates. And Democratic candidates will attack each other during primaries too. Please be supportive of winning candidate despite any issues you may disagree with and realize there probably are a lot more issues you will agree with.
Rules for Discussing Conservatives
We are a lot more lenient on what you can post on conservatives and don't have many rules. Our main and only rule is do not embarrass us or other liberals. Stick to the facts and avoid extremism. We don't want your post to reflect negatively on us or other Democrats. Use common sense.
General Forum Rules
We have some other rules in our forums to help control the quality of the discussion. We also expect to probably add and modify rules to adapt to the website as it grows and things change.
Stick to the Facts
Do not misrepresent, exaggerate or state something as fact that is not. We know you all are good about this but this is just a reminder. ;) If you are not sure about something or are just expressing an opinion, be sure to indicate that in your post.
Respect Privacy of People's families
Please respect the privacy of politicians, pundits and people's families and avoid posts on children and any family members that do not put themselves in the public spotlight.
Avoid Common\Lazy Grammar Mistakes
Please use correct grammar and spelling in our forums. One of our pet peeves is seeing a poster on the Internet calling someone 'stupid' while using poor grammar (we get especially mad when a liberal does this to a conservative). Here are some basic\common rules not to break on our forum:
